LireBeacon was pleased to host its fifth annual 5-a-side football tournament, bringing together colleagues, industry partners, volunteers and supporters for a day of competitive sport in support of Railway Children.
Thanks to the collective efforts of all those involved, the tournament contributed to an overall Beacon fundraising total of more than £23,000 for Railway Children, supporting the charity’s vital work with vulnerable children and young people across the rail network and beyond.
The tournament saw 71 matches played over the course of the day, culminating in a closely contested final between GB Railfreight and Alstom Wembley. GB Railfreight were crowned champions for 2025 following an impressive performance, with congratulations extended to all teams who took part.
Beacon would like to extend its sincere thanks to all participants and volunteers, and in particular to Joey Doekhie, Ibrahim Keles, Stephen Emeanuwa, Katherine Ward, Dominic Juner, Priya Satish, Bernard Schiebaan and Renata Makiej, whose dedication and organisation ensured the event ran smoothly.
Building on the success of this year’s tournament, Beacon looks forward to welcoming returning teams and new entrants in the future, with the next European 5-a-side tournament scheduled to take place in Amsterdam in May 2026.
